KOREA GOLF TOURISM ASSOCIATION INTRODUCTION
Korea is the world's seventh-largest golf powerhouse with 5.35 million golfers and 844 golf courses out of 51 million people, accounting for 2% of the world's 39,000 golf courses. There are many beautiful and well-managed golf courses that are second to none in the world. Nevertheless, few foreign golfers actually visit Korean golf courses, except for some Chinese or Southeast Asian golfers visiting Jeju Island.
The reason is that there is no organization or media promoting Korean golf courses in international languages such as English, and there is no need for marketing for overseas golfers at golf courses because there are overflowing Korean golfers.
But the truth is that many foreign golfers want to visit Korea. It is time to provide accurate information on this and provide various support for actual rounds. In response, the Korea Golf Tourism Association was established to address this need and approved by the Korea government in August 2022.
Each year, 2.5 million Korean golfers travel abroad.
Unfortunately, however, it is more than 98% in East Asia, of which Thailand,
Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, China and Japan are the mainstream. In response,
the association intends to carry out a project to expand to Europe, the Middle
East, Africa, the United States, and Oceania by providing information on
various overseas golf courses for Korean golfers' overseas golf travel.
The association has 10 sub-departments and is conducting various projects and promotions. James Park, the founder of the association, graduated from Seoul National University, taught at a university, served as a PGA Korean Press Officer, and is currently a member of the World Golf Travel Writers Association.
He is creating a new area in the Korean golf world based on various networks and experiences around the world. He is now also the founder and Chief Executive of the association.
Thank you so much KOREA GOLF TOURISM ASSOCIATION
